A refined and redesigned portfolio to kick start the new year. Continuing my yearly attempt to reduce clutter and simplify things even further. Next year it’ll just be a blank screen.
Built completely from scratch, I stripped the colour right out and bumped up the white space. On top of that, I used a font combination of Roboto and Catamaran” to (hopefully), compliment all the blog posts I’ve planned to write over the coming months – Not to mention my upcoming eBook.
I implemented this really nice Responsive Navigation from Codyhouse. I changed it slightly, so it’s limited to mobile as opposed to being the main navigation all the time.
The bulk of the imagery used throughout the site is of course from Unsplash. Thanks to them, any colour that was lost in the redesign, has certainly been made up for by the incredible photography.
Whilst it’s too early to comment on what impact the new UI and functionality will have on users, I’m certain it’s going to be a positive one. I’ll be sure to update this once I review the Analytics in a few months.
Over the coming weeks, I’ll be adding additional features such as Author Bios, Newsletter Signup Forms, Recommended Tools/Books etc so keep an eye out for those. In the mean time, you can read more about the new site in my blog.
