Leaving Homes England

After 4 fantastic years, I’ll be leaving Homes England in a few weeks.

After 4 fantastic years, I’ll be leaving Homes England in a few weeks. This has been one of the most rewarding roles of my career and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it here.

Those first few years during lockdown were particularly exciting, we had the difficult task of delivering significant cultural change, introducing new ways of working and scaling the delivery capacity to support the org:

  1. Introduced new DDaT Roles, including Product, Delivery and UCD across Digital
  2. Introduced Agile ways of working and delivering to the GDS Service Standard
  3. Published a Digital Playbook
  4. Establish a Digital Governance and portfolio process

It’s been a real privilege to lead the delivery team over this period. A hugely talented and hard-working group of people – From the permanent folk to all the contractors and suppliers who chipped in. Time and time again, they demonstrated real quality, expertise and dedication. It hasn’t always been plain sailing and not all of it went to plan, but I’m really proud of the work we have done including:

  1. Deliver new Microsoft Azure Cloud Hosting & Data Platforms
  2. Deliver the Building Safety Fund Service
  3. Deliver the Affordable Home Ownership Find & Register Service
  4. Deliver strategic platforms for Risk & Performance Management
  5. Deliver the Digital tranche of the Help to Buy Mortgage Administration Migration
  6. And of course, supporting all our existing products and services!

I also want to thank Alan Johnston, Michael Wright, Amanda Staincliffe, Brian McIntyre FIET, Adrian Tucker, Richard Browne, Craig Pearson, Justin Hannan and Richard Lundie-Sadd – We got a lot done and we had a good laugh doing it, which I think is the best way to work.

I want to give a special mention to Sarah Slack and Victoria Sherrington. I can’t speak highly enough of them. Their guidance, support and trust helped me immensely. They set the absolute best examples of leadership.

After a short break, I will be going consultancy side and joining Softwire but crucially, continuing to work with the Public Sector; which I’m really excited about – So yes, wearing a slightly different hat but not moving too far away 👋
