I’ve never visited the Lake District before, so in late November, I jumped in my car and drove 5 hours to Cumbria! The Lake District is spectacular, there are moments where you start to question if you are in England or if you’ve been transported to somewhere out of Star Wars.
Itinerary
- Friars Crag
- Buttermere Lake
- Loweswater – Holme Wood Bothy
- Great Gable – Seathwaite Parking
- Rydal Water
- Loughrigg Fell
- Langdale Pikes – Sticklbarns Tavern
- Coniston Water
- Homeground Coffee + Kitchen (Windemere)
- Lake Windemere (Boat Hire)
There were other places we just stumbled across that were breathtaking, and by stumble, I mean on our way to the next location. So getting lost here might not be the worst thing in the world. Although, there was one point we found ourselves driving high up in the mountains, with very little sunlight, on a treacherous road (it’s not an actual road) with no sign of life in sight.
Warning: I’d recommend taking a reliable car that can handle steep roads and breakdown cover.
